Job DescriptionElectrical Designer III (Power Generation / Industrial Projects) Contract – Birmingham, AL (anticipated 9–12 months with strong potential for extension). Very competitive pay, time-and-a-half for OT, Mob/Demob, and strong per diem. Join a growing engineering team supporting power generation and infrastructure projects, including gas turbines, substations, renewables, BESS, and datacenter power systems. You’ll develop construction-ready electrical designs that go directly into the field. Requirements: Associate degree in Engineering Technology, CAD, or related field 7+ years of electrical design experience in industrial or power environments Experience with power distribution, MCCs, and motor control systemsFamiliarity with EPC or multidisciplinary project environmentsStrong knowledge of NEC and electrical design standardsProficiency in AutoCAD; experience with Plant 3D, Revit, or Navisworks preferred Ability to interpret vendor drawings and equipment layouts Responsibilities: Develop electrical deliverables including: MCC one-lines, layouts, schematics, and cable schedules Grounding, lighting, and power plans Create installation drawings from vendor documentation Perform calculations (lighting, voltage drop, conduit/tray fill, sizing, protection) Determine MCC and substation loadingRoute conduit and cable tray systemsSupport MTOs, cost estimates, and construction packagesCoordinate with civil, structural, and mechanical teamsProvide field support during construction/startupIdentify scope changes and support project scheduling Skills & Competencies: Strong understanding of electrical systems, materials, and construction practicesExperience producing constructible designsFamiliarity with EPC workflows and coordinationExperience with tools like ElecDes, Dialux, or similar (preferred) Proficient in Microsoft Office Why This Role Stands Out: Work on real power infrastructure projectsExposure to turbines, substations, renewables, and datacenter powerDesigns go directly into constructionStrong earning potential with OT + per diem Additional Info: Travel as needed for field and construction support Johnson Service Group (JSG) is an Equal Opportunity Employer.
