Let’s explore how we can support your growth and help you take the next step in your career, while contributing to an exciting new chapter for Mott MacDonald in North America.Key Responsibilities: Substation Physical Design & DraftingPrepare detailed AutoCAD drawings for substation physical design, including:General arrangements (GAs), plans, elevations, and sectionsEquipment layouts and clearancesConduit, cable trench, and duct bank routingGrounding plans and detailsControl house layouts and interface detailsDevelop drawing packages at 30%, 60%, 90%, and IFC stagesIncorporate owner standards, utility specifications, and project go‑by drawingsRevise and maintain drawings based on internal QA/QC and client commentsProtection & Control (P&C) Design SupportDraft and update:AC and DC schematicsWiring and interconnection diagramsPanel layouts and elevationsCable schedules and termination drawingsSupport relay and control engineers with drawing production and redlinesAssist with as‑built documentation and design updatesGeneral Design SupportCoordinate with electrical, civil, and structural designers to ensure drawing consistencySupport drawing registers, transmittals, and document controlFollow internal CAD standards, layering conventions, and title block requirementsParticipate in drawing reviews and address comments efficientlyRequired Qualifications: Associate degree or technical certificate in Electrical Engineering Technology or similar (Bachelor’s preferred but not required)3–8+ years of experience as an Electrical Designer or Drafter, preferably in substation or power delivery projectsStrong proficiency in AutoCAD (utility or EPC experience strongly preferred)Practical understanding of:High‑voltage substations (AIS or GIS)Substation equipment and layoutsBasic P&C concepts (CTs, PTs, relays, panels, AC/DC systems)Ability to work from engineer sketches, redlines, and markupsStrong attention to detail and ability to manage multiple drawing packages concurrentlyPreferred QualificationsExperience with AutoCAD, MicroStationFamiliarity with utility standards (e.g., National Grid, NYPA, ISO‑NE, NYISO, PJM)Experience supporting wind, solar, BESS, or data center substationsUnderstanding of IEEE substation standards (layout, grounding, clearances)Experience working in multi‑disciplinary project teamsBenefits & RewardAt Mott MacDonald, our employees have a stake and a voice in our business, providing them with a direct connection to our success through our personal and group performance bonuses. Individual pay is determined based on several factors such as work location, education, experience, and unique skills.The expected salary for this position is $97,000 - $119,000.
